day by day

Day 1

SALEM ALMATY!

Say hello to Almaty – the city of apples! Today’s the day you meet your tribe, and together, we’re going to dive into the vibes of this buzzing city. In the evening, we’re hitting up Kok Toebe (optional) for epic sunset views over the whole city. Let’s go!

Day 2

CANYONS, LAKES,
VALLEYS AND VILLAGES

Your journey kicks off from AlmatyOur first stop is the stunning Charyn Canyon, famously known as the Valley of the Castles. Get ready to walk about 1.5 km along the canyon floor, soaking in surreal landscapes and ending at the scenic Charyn River. From there, we’ll head to Saty village, where a warm, home-style lunch awaits at a local guesthouse — the perfect cultural pause. Post-lunch, we drive to the serene Kolsai Lake, surrounded by lush forests and mountains. As the day winds down, we settle in for a cozy night at a yurt camp or guesthouse. Dinner is served — along with fresh mountain air, bonfire, stars above, and good vibes all around.

Day 3

KAINDY DREAMS
AND CANYON SCENES

Rise, shine, and fuel up. Post breakfast we hit the road.
First stop: the surreal Kaindy Lake, famous for its eerie-beautiful sunken forest rising out of the water like a dream. You can hike around or go horseback riding (optional) — either way, you’ll be soaking up some serious nature magic.
We’ll circle back to Saty village for a laid-back homecooked lunch at a cozy guesthouse.
After lunch, we say goodbye to Kolsai Lakes National Park, but the journey isn’t over yet. On the way back to Almaty, we’ll make quick photo stops at the dramatic Black Canyon and the otherworldly Yellow (Moon) Canyon — both wildly Instagrammable and uniquely Kazakh.

Day 4

CITY EXPLORE + SHYMBULAK
SKI RESORT

Morning’s yours to explore! Check out:Arbat Street – A lively pedestrian street lined with quirky art, shops, and cafes, Green Bazaar – Bustling market with fresh produce & local snacks, Ascension Cathedral – A stunning, all-wooden Russian Orthodox church in vibrant pastel colors, set in a peaceful park. Later, head to Shymbulak Ski Resort — ride the cable car, grab a drink with a view, or just soak in the mountain vibes.

Day 5

CHASING WATERFALLS
& ALPINE BLUES

Hey there, adventure seekers! Get ready to strap on your hiking boots as we go on an epic journey through the stunning landscapes of Turkey. We’re heading to the awe-inspiring Ihlara Valley, where the lush greenery and towering cliffs will leave you breathless. And that’s not all, we’re also going in deep underground to explore the caves. But wait, there’s more! We’re also checking out the Selime Monastery, and soaking in the views of the Pigeon Valley.

And once the sun sets, gear up for a wild night out with your squad as you hop through the best pubs in town.

Day 6

DAY OF GOODBYES
UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN

As our adventure wraps up, it’s time to say goodbye to this stunning land of mountains, lakes, and unforgettable experiences. You’ve explored canyons, chased waterfalls, and shared magical moments with your tribe.
With hearts full and memories in hand, we bid farewell — but not for long. Pinky promise, this won’t be the last journey together. Until the next one… stay curious and keep exploring.

Had a wonderful experience with Trips and Tales on the Kazakhstan trip! 🇰🇿✨ Beautiful destinations, stunning views, and an amazing group of people made it truly memorable. The trip was filled with laughter, fun, and new friendships. The only suggestion would be to add a few more days to explore Kazakhstan at a more relaxed pace and cover a little more. Overall, a lovely experience and memories to cherish! ❤️

A wonderfully curated trip in and around Almaty. The snow capped mountains, turquoise blue waters and deserted canyons made this itinerary a mix of diverse landscapes. The road trips with little to no one on either side while we sang to some amazing desi and videsi beats was a surreal experience. The people of Kazakhstan are as warm as the friends that I made during this trip. Do try the Chicken Samsa, Kazakh chai and the Beshbarmak. Out trip leader, Aditi, made sure we came out of our comfort zones and gelled so well with us that by mid of the trip we could not see the leader within her but only a friend.

I wasn't very happy with the itinerary because it was changed later, and many places that were originally expected were either removed or made optional. Even when some places were included, we had to reach those destinations on our own, which meant spending extra on transportation as well as entry tickets. Considering the budget, I felt the trip was much more expensive than expected because internal transportation within the cities wasn't included. We ended up paying for that separately, which made it feel like we were managing the trip on our own rather than being part of an organized group tour. There were too many leisure days, and it felt like almost half of the trip was just free time. This trip was memorable to me because of the people and the place (Spain). There were points where our team leader has helped us, I genuinely appreciate that.
