About Trip

While the abode of clouds – Meghalaya is a backpackers paradise, Assam in it’s green lush terrains is home to one-horned rhinoceros and many such species of wild habitats in Asia. This trip gives you the best of nature, history and wild life. From gushing waterfalls and adventurous caves to jungles and river island. While we indulge in lip smacking food, make friends with locals and make numerous core memories with fun crew and numerous activities in the heart of nature. What more can one ask for right?

Day 1: Guwahati – Shillong – Umiam Lake

Welcome to Guwahati (Arrive by 1 pm).Meet your fellow backpackers as we make our way to Shillong. Pause at Umiam Lake for a stunning sunset – your  first North East magic moment. Nighttime, we’re snug in a Shillong homestay. Food? Local goodness to satisfy tummies and souls. And yes, let’s break the ice with a fun session!

Day 2: Explore Shillong

Also called the Scotland of the East, Shillong has a charm of its own. Begin your morning with a trip to a Sacred Forest for a glimpse into the customs of the tribals and have a picnic breakfast there. Later, we head to the Elephant falls and gorge on some steaming hot momos and maggi. Bliss! In the afternoon learn about the culture and history of the 7 sisters at the Don Bosco Museum or simply head to the Laitlum Canyon. In the evening, we head out to explore the markets and groove tosome local music.

Day 3: Shillong - Cherrapunjee Waterfalls

Time for a dash of Indiana Jones-style excitement! Today, we’re hitting up the cool Mawsmai caves or Arwah caves. Quick lunch pit stop, then it’s waterfall
time – Noh Kalikai, the super tall one, and Wei Sawdong falls for the win. As the stars twinkle, we’ll kick back at our Cherrapunjee stay, relax, and savor a good dinner.

Day 4: Living Root Bridge- Blue Lagoon- Rainbow Falls

Deep in the dense tropical forest of Meghalaya lies the living root bridge – a fascinating invention of the tribals. Trek through the forest & villages to get to this bridge. We also go further & visit the hidden blue lagoon & rainbow falls. Enjoy a refreshing dip in the crystal waters after a long tedious trek & gorge on hot maggi and nimbu pani for some energy.

Day 5: Mawlynnong - Dawki

After a leisure breakfast, we make our way to the cleanest village in Asia -Mawlynnong. The village is very pretty with small streams & orchid trees. Their matriarchal culture and the age-old tradition of cleanliness are fascinating. Later, we hop on our boats & cruise along the clearest water of Dawki river. It is so clear you can see the river bed! Take it up a notch and cliff-jump into the river. Plus be in 2 places at the Indo – Bangla border as well. Return to Shillong at night for some dinner and rest.

Day 6: Kaziranga National Park Safari

Say goodbye to Meghalaya and welcome the green plains of Assam as we drive to
Kaziranga. A UNESCO World Heritage site. After a quick Assamese lunch, we hop on our jeeps and begin our journey through the jungles to spot the famous one-horned rhino. If you are lucky you may see some tigers as well. In the evening we check in at our beautiful luxurious jungle resort for some bonfire, music, food and drinks with the squad!

Day 7: Majuli - Mask Making - Tribal Dinner - New Year's Eve

Today we board our ferry & make our way to the largest river island – Majuli. Freshen up at our traditional bamboo huts & learn the art of mask making at the satras as you learn the way of life of the Mishing tribe. In the evening ring in the New Year on Majuli’s river island, where bonfires and tribal feasts with the Mishing tribe light up the night in authentic celebration. Experience a local and unforgettable way to welcome the year ahead!

Day 8: Majuli to Guwahati

Good morning 2024! Wake up to the beauty of Majuli. You can ride some bicycles, as you explore the quaint village island. Later, put on your chef hats as we cook a meal together for lunch with our mates on our last day of the trip. Trust us, it’s an experience in itself. In the afternoon, board your ferry and return to mainland Assam. In the evening we spend our last night with our buddies at a super cool cafe in Jorhat, playing Jenga and eating food as we wait for our overnight bus to Guwahati.

Day 8: Adios Amigos

Arrive at the Guwahati bus stand in the morning(by 7 am). With a heavy heart bid adios to your fellow travelers and promise to meet each other on another adventurous trip! After doing lof of research i chose to go to Vietnam trip through trips n tales. It was indeed an unforgettable experience, filled with cherished memories that I will carry with me for a lifetime. I got the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people from different walks of life. The ability of our Trip Leader (Aditi) to facilitate meaningful dialogues and create an environment where everyone felt comfortable sharing their thoughts and experiences was commendable. Thank you Aditi for leading us on this remarkable trip to Vietnam. The beauty of vietnam from the vibrant halong bay to bana hills we saw under your guidance is worth mentioning here. Your passion for travel, dedication to creating meaningful experiences, and warm-hearted nature made this trip truly extraordinary for me. I wish you all the best in your endeavors.
We have chosen Trips n Tales as our Vietnam travel partner. TripnTales team has taken good care of us. We are happy for choosing Trip n Tales as our travel partner and looking forward to have many more collaborations in future too. This was really Awesome Tour. Our Guide Aditi Madam was super Friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to! Madam helped us shop in the market and get good prices on a few things to take home. The pictures she took and shared are amazing and the memories will last a lifetime. We were also impressed with the professionalism and friendliness of the guides.

I recently went to Vietnam with TNT, it was great enjoying, refreshing moments for me, made new friends & got to know what others r doing & sharing their past travel experience's. Our trip buddy Ms.Aditi was very cool, kind, supportive & has good experience in managing the trips, luv to travel with her again. Itinerary covered almost the entire Vietnam so no worry, stay was good except Hanoi ,leisure time was more on some days which should i recommend to add more activities otherwise were left to explore on own, the city tour/bus package(was cheap) can be added for each city in the Itinerary. I would luv to recommend TNT if ur solo/first timer to go in group.

I had a fabulous experience on my trip to Vietnam with Trips N Tales. They have very careful curated iternnary which gives you a wholesome experience. We were able to the cover all of the most famous and serene places, it was very well managed, stays were very nice and closer to the main city spots so we could just walk around and explore by ourselves as well. It was a good mix of planned activities and exploration time which I love when going in group trips. I met one of the coolest person, Aditi, also the trip buddy for this trip. She was there at all times and we had so much fun together. Lastly, I was never expecting to meet people who are now such close friends. Each and every person had such unique background and experiences to share and we all kept chatting late night by the beach. Loved the entire trip and experience. Definitely recommend them to everyone. All the best guys! Booking another trip soon.

I went to Bali with TripNTales and it was great experience as I could do lot of activities in this trip. Bali is a beautiful place and they covered most of it. The trip provided good stays at beautiful locations. I wish they remove the Mt. Batur trek because it is very difficult… Atleast it was for me and the view I had expected was not worth the struggle i went thru. I wish they properly manage Nusa Penida as the last ferry is at 3pm and covering all places is not possible. Hence including only 2 places should be enough to capture and live the gorgeous locations. We had to hop to all places and barely got any good time to live the scenic beauty. Food is an issue. In Ubud we got very less options but since gilli islands Nd further the breakfast was buffet hence no complains on that. Lunch and dinner is upto us and better go prepared as per the hotel location as you might lose lot of time searching for the places. Thé activities we covered were cycling, trekking, snorkelling, scuba diving and surfing. Looking back I believe the trip offered us all. The trip is hectic and there’s lot of travelling hence only those should opt for this itenary if they can handle the travel, getting up early, walking, cycling, trekking, etc. Hence not for ppl looking to only lie down or a leisure time! Would definitely recommend for active and enthusiastic travellers!!
